To undertake the translation professionally, we strictly abide by the following 3 steps:

Step 1: Scope out the text for translation

The first step is to get an understanding of the text we are going to translate, as well as the subject matter and content, how long it is, the writing style and whether it’s technical, etc.

Our translator will usually read or skim parts of the text to get an over of the content as well as take note of key concepts, and terminology he/she will need to research and will decide if it requires any preliminary background.

Sometimes he/she will research and resolve how he/she will translate key terms before beginning the translation.

Step 2: Initial Translation

This is where the actual translation happens. The translator will start translating sentence to sentence, phrase to phrase while capturing the concept of the text, rather than a word-for-word translation.

Step 3: Review & Finalizing

After completion of the first draft, the translator will be reviewing through the translation while comparing each part of the text with the original (source) text. The primary goal is to confirm that he/she hasn’t missed any slightly unnatural or inelegant wording in this.

Then the document will be reviewed by another senior translator (peer review) and conduct proper formatting before submitting the final edits to the client.
